Check The Ingredients
Many food manufactures are adding things that you'd normally wouldn't eat to their products. One thing that people have gotten away from is checking the ingredient list.
For example, if you'd check the ingredient list on many Blueberry products, you'd find that they don't actually have Blueberries in them at all. What's in them? Sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, did I mention sugar? On top of that, various forms of sugar, Fructose and other additives. So, there really isn't any Blueberry in them at all.
There are many products that try to fake the whole Blueberry or Natural craze. It's true, that people love fruit in their foods and that people love Natural and Organic foods. Just because it says Natural thought, doesn't mean it's Organic. Or that they haven't added stuff to it.
What are some things that don't have fruit at all in them? Muffins for starters, most muffins don't actually have real fruit, they have what some companies call Fruit Bits, which are flavored and masked to looked like Blueberries. Many popular name brand products such as Kellogg and other brands, use this method of masking the product to make you think it's healthy. Yet, at the same time, these companies charge you the same price that the cereals that do have fruit in them are charging. If not more. Seriously? Yep, you bet.
I'm not specifically targeting Blueberries here, there are lots of fruit imitation foods out there that do this. Makes you think twice about these foods doesn't it? There are cereals that are actually healthy for you. One thing to keep in mind when it comes to healthy food? Usually the fewer the ingredients, the better. Better yet, many things can be made yourself. That way you know what's in it.
What have we learned here today? Check your labels on food. Many people don't do that. And they wonder why their getting fat. Shouldn't I be losing weight? I'm eating healthier foods.
I say, ask yourself again, is the food really that much healthier? Or is it just disguised junk food?
