I've been busy watching the Dragonball Series. I'm currently watching the Dragonball Z series, which is the second in the third series. I'm also going to start doing a series of anime reviews on this blog. With no further ado, here's my review on the Dragonball series.
Dragonball, is about a young boy, Goku, who lands on Earth as a baby. Goku is a Saiyan, and they are known for their superior strength and power. Which is found out later in the series. His journey and travels takes him from the loss of his Grandfather, to the search for the magical Dragonballs. Hence, the name of the series. Dragonballs are magical in a sense, that when all seven are collected, the Great Dragon grants you one wish.
This anime is really about one thing. Fighting. Good vs. Evil. The first series consist of Empire Pilaf as Goku's nemesis. Emperor Pilaf can only be described as a small Blue Imp-like creature that wants to rule the world.
There is also another enemy during this series. The Red Ribbon Army. These guys are tough, notorious bad guys. And Goku has to take them all on himself. "But he's just a boy." Bulma would say. But, he's also a Saiyan. The Red Ribbon Army's leader is kind of short, and the reason he wants the Dragonballs? Well, I'll give you one guess.
Bulma is Goku's first travel companion. She starts off at the age of 16. Goku, being only 12, gets into a lot of trouble with Bulma and Goku's innocence, only makes it that much more interesting. Goku is of a pure heart, with pure intent. Thus, making him stronger than most would think.
Krillin, is Goku's training partner and rival at first, but they become good friends. They are about the same age and end up getting along well. Krillin is kind of short also and bald. And interesting character.
Piccolo, end up being Goku's toughest opponent in this entire series. He's a Namekian a green guy who can have his own offspring. Kind of weird really.
This series develops well, with good characters, and new fighting techniques being added. Goku's whole philosophy is, no pain no gain. At least, that's what he adopts.
Overall, I'd give this a ********* 9/10 stars.
